THE EDGES OF A CITY

THE EDGES OF A CITY

29 October 2026 to 31 January 2027

Opening: Wednesday, October 28, 2026, 6 pm

For the exhibition ‘The Edges of a City’, the Aspekte Gallery at Munich Volkshochschule brings together four artists whose works sharpen our focus on different parts of the city and its history, bringing to light what is otherwise easily forgotten.

Verena Hägler explores the outskirts of Munich through photography, examining the north-east of the city and distilling her observations into precise black-and-white images. In his textile works, Philipp Gufler draws on queer biographies and political contexts, bringing to light forms of memory that are often only fragmentarily present in public space. Through installations and performances, Angela Stiegler and Samuel Fischer-Glaser examine historical narratives and their lasting effects, linking these to specific locations within the urban landscape.

The exhibition brings together diverse artistic approaches that engage with Munich from various angles, thereby shifting the focus to what often goes unnoticed.
